What is BMX? Funny old question really, when you think about it. The first and most obvious answer would be something along the lines of ‘a sport’ but its much more than that. BMX for most of us is something we fall into at a young age and depending on the paths that you take, its something that binds us together forever. Being a somewhat integral cog in this humble industry we are able to view BMX from so many points of view, we see the riders who only want fame and the ones who shy away from it. We see the sponsors who come and go and invest for short periods until the bubbles bursts, but for us guys; we are in it for life. We ride, crash; laugh, joke and we create, which is important. BMX to us is everything; it’s the complete package and more.
Each year we throw two BMX jams to celebrate BMX as a social glue, a reason to hang out, cook some food, have friendly bike battles and drink some beer. We put those jams on for the good of BMX and to bring people together. Every country has its riders, every city has its scenes and without BMX jams those scenes would never connect and people would never have those memories. Wethepeople started 20 years ago from enthusiastic thoughts, dreams and ideas united to an honest love of riding BMX.
Congratulations to Mo Nussbaumer, Felix Prangenberg and Daniel Tunte.
