Ed Zunda Bike Check

Photos by Janis Dreimanis

It's cold in Latvia, -12 degrees to be exact, which gave Ed Zunda some time to dial in a brand new whip before Simple Session in a few weeks time. Ed is riding his signature AWAKE Frame and AWAKE Cranks in Matt Black with a subtle hint of dark gum, classy...

You'll also notice Ed is running the new Felix Prangenberg Pathfinder Sprocket which is going to be available from bike shops in a few weeks time...

Ed's signature AWAKE frame looking stealthy in Matt Black. Ed's frame is also available in Trans Matt Red for those of you who want a bit more colour in your life without having to ride a a bike that looks like a fire engine...

Like most of the PRO team, Ed rides a 25,4mm BUCK bar and matching Hydra stem for the huge increase in strength and stiffness over a traditional 22.2mm setup.

Some riders simply won't ride anything else than a certain part. For Ed, that part is our Stickin tire, a product he was involved heavily with during the design, development and testing process. Ed rides them in 2.30" front and rear for extra space during grinds, but the Stickin tires are also available in 2.40" for those who like more cushion for the pushin.

A grip that's created quite a following, the Hilt gets an upgrade for 2017 in the shape of the Hilt XL. Not too much to go on about here, we just gave it an extra 15mm of length, so this thing now measures up at 165mm long, perfect for riders who like more grip on their bars. That Dark Gum/Marble colourway looks oh so sweet too...

Stealthy as hell. Ed's signature AWAKE cranks in 170mm bolted up to the new Felix Prangenberg "Pathfinder" sprocket in 25t. Felix's sprocket is 8mm thick with plenty of material to hold up to hangups galore. Look out for the Pathfinder sprocket dropping in a few weeks time in 25, 26 and 28t options.

Another look at the super slick Stickin tire which features a grind friendly "catch-free" sidewall, perfect for a grind technician like Ed.

Ed rides our Team Tripod seat in the Mid size, which is a happy medium between comfort and looks.

Look out for Ed killing it at Simple Session this year, as well as his section in our new DVD "Foundation" which will be premiered in Tallinn on the 3rd of February.
